BallastRack Model Comparison

Which BallastRack model is right for your installation?

BallastRack™ Comparison Chart

Ground Clearance Comparison

Fixed Sun Angle Systems

The fixed angle systems offer a great year-round sun angle for specific regions, with no need to adjust the angle throughout the year.

IR-30 BallastRack

The IR-30 is the original BallastRack and the best all around option for most of the United States, offering the ideal year-round sun angle for most regions with just enough tilt to shed light snow and withstand strong wind speeds.

Pros

  • Capable of racking solar panels of any size
  • Very good wind ratings
  • Easy, low-cost shipping for small DIY projects
  • Constructed from strong, lightweight USA sourced aircraft grade aluminum

Cons

  • Low ground clearance
  • No sun angle adjustability

Fixed-Adjustable Sun Angle Systems

The fixed-adjustable angle systems are not meant for seasonal angle adjustments, but allow you to dial in to the absolute best year-round sun angle for your region with adjustability from 15-40° and an extra 8" of ground clearance under the solar panels.

IR-40FSAA BallastRack

The IR-40FSAAcan provide the best fixed sun angle in any region with a vast selection of sun angle settings and high ground clearance, while being strong enough to withstand high wind and snow loads.

This version is made from strong aircraft grade aluminum which is sourced and manufactured in the USA.

Pros

  • Capable of racking solar panels of any size
  • Very good wind ratings
  • Extreme corrosion resistance (costal rated) w/ 100% stainless steel hardware
  • Easy, low-cost shipping for small DIY projects
  • Adjustable from 15-40° in 2.5° increments
  • Extra 8" of ground clearance
  • Constructed from strong, lightweight USA sourced aircraft grade aluminum

Cons

  • Higher cost than fixed angle models

IR-40FSAC BallastRack

The IR-40FSAC is a budget friendly option and can provide the best fixed sun angle in any region with a vast selection of sun angle settings and high ground clearance, while being strong enough to withstand high wind and snow loads.

This version is constructed from black high-strength composite for lower cost solar panel racking.

Pros

  • Capable of racking solar panels of any size
  • Very good wind ratings
  • Easy, low-cost shipping for small DIY projects
  • Adjustable from 15-40° in 2.5° increments
  • Extra 8" of ground clearance
  • Constructed from a black high-strength composite

Cons

  • Heavier than aluminum models

Seasonably Adjustable Sun Angle Systems

Our seasonably adjustable BallastRack frames are the ultimate premium racking system, offering fast and easy seasonal adjustability that you can't get with any other system, giving you up to 30% higher gains throughout the year compared to fixed angle systems, to give you the best return on your investment.

IR-45ASAA BallastRack

The IR-45ASAA BallastRack allows for fast and easy angle adjustment for each individual solar panel, meaning that your entire system can be adjusted from 15-45° in minutes for the best energy production in any season and every region, with high ground clearance and very strong wind and snow load ratings.

This version is made from aircraft grade aluminum, which is sourced and manufactured in the USA.

*Not recommended for solar panels larger than 500 Watts (80" maximum panel length)

Pros

  • Seasonably adjustable from 15-45°
  • Capable of racking very large solar panels
  • Very good wind ratings
  • Easy, low-cost shipping for small DIY projects
  • Extra 8" of ground clearance
  • Constructed from strong, lightweight USA sourced aircraft grade aluminum

Cons

  • Maximum solar panel length limited to 80"
  • Highest cost

East/West Double Solar Panel System

The East/West facing layout of the IR-EW15 BallastRack, you can install many more solar panels per square kilometer with no need to space the rows apart for shading. This layout also provides extended energy production throughout the day, capturing more energy in the morning and evening versus South facing systems. Additionally, an East/West system can produce more energy during cloudy days, when the sun light is more diffused.

IR-EW15 BallastRack

The IntegraRack IR-EW15 BallastRack solar panel racking system builds on the proven intuitive design of the traditional BallastRack, enabling twice as many panels while delivering the fastest, easiest, and most cost-effective utility-scale solar racking solution, with the lowest cost per kilowatt. With the innovative design of the IR-EW15, solar panels can be installed up to 6 times faster with far less heavy equipment and less intensive labor, and there is no need for concrete footings or earth augers, as this system can be easily ballasted or installed using one of our specially designed mounting kits. Constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum, this system is rigorously engineered and tested to withstand the harshest environmental conditions.

*Only for use with large 450-900W commercial solar panels (64" minimum panel length)

Pros

  • Lowest cost per Watt vs other BallastRack models
  •  Extended energy production hours throughout the day
  • Extreme corrosion resistance (costal rated) w/ 100% stainless steel hardware
  • Capable of racking 2 very large commercial sized solar panels per frame
  • 20-40% better energy production on cloudy days vs other BallastRack models

Cons

  • Only for use with large commercial solar panels
  • East/West orientation loses benefits at higher latitudes
